Experimental performance evaluation of an R1234yf automobile air conditioning system employing an internal heat exchanger

A bench-top automobile air conditioning (AAC) system using a thermostatic expansion valve was developed. The equipped with coaxial internal heat exchanger (HEX) and charged R1234yf, new refrigerant used as an alternative to R134a. tested at the compressor speeds ranging between 1000 rpm 2600 increments of 400 rpm. For each speed, temperatures evaporator condenser inlets were concurrently changed 30 °C 40 5 °C. operated for cases employing not HEX, totally test runs performed. Then, first law thermodynamics applied components evaluate various steady state performance parameters. considered parameters mass flow rate, evaporating temperature, cooling capacity, power, coefficient (COP), dissipation rate discharge temperature compressor. It determined that experimental HEX yielded on average 0.8 lower 2.2% higher 2.0% power 3.0% COP values relative HEX. These findings reveal use causes better in terms COP.
